Software and New Media Art

Synesketch Graphic

Synesketch (2008) is an open-source textual emotion recognition and artistic visualization engine. Synesketch "magically" transforms your text into animated visuals in real time. It was reviewed by the Creative Review, presented at the Media Interaction Lab and Alternative Party, appreciated by many, and awarded by the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce.

Titan (2007) is a highly flexible computer database system for keeping student activity records and exams.

Talaria (2006) is a multi-agent system for gathering information from the Web, with email-based natural text interface. It was presented and voted for the best 12 poster presentations at the Summer School of Multimedia Semantics 2007.

#turing (2005) is is an educational app for simulating Turing Machines. It allows a user to write machine code, and then execute it on different input sequences.

These projects were made withing the Vladan Devedžić's GOOD OLD AI Research Lab, for which I've also drawn a 64 km long GPS logo, as big as Paris.

Film and Animation

Selfportrait

Self-Portait (2007) is a short animated film about an artist, who, while creating a portrait, realizes that the painted parts of the face – Nose, Eye, Ear, Mouth, Tongue, and Hair – have a mind and soul of their own. It won an award at Balkanima and was shown at 10+ international festivals.

The Tale of a Town (2004) is a short animated film about the City of Pančevo, and, more, about the timeless joy of creating things. It won several awards and was shown on several domestic and international festivals.

Own's Own (2002) is a short animated film about a shadow of a tree, which doesn't obey the Sun. It was awarded with the Best Debutant Film Director Award at the Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival.

There are, also, several other film/animation projects where I was involved in as a director, writer, or animator: an animated music video, Mi Smo Majstori (We Are the Craftsmen) (2009), featuring VojvodinaPut company crew as one crazy orchestra; a mini-trash film aaahh (2007), a short commentary on false academic values of management schools; Noname-Freedom (2005), an experimental SF short about the future of people and technology, shot in chroma-key studio; Evolution 2 (2001), an animated short that brings a new theory about the creation of man; and The Teeter-totter (1997), my first child-work cartoon, created when I was 12 years old.

Drawings and Visual Design

1501 Profiles Exhibition Sample

During my school days I held two solo exhibitions of comic books, drawings, and caricatures: 1051 Profiles Exhibition (2001) and The First Solo Exhibition (1999).

I've designed several logos for software and research projects, like the Talaria Logo (2006), Synesketch Logo (2008), and Online-Presence Logo (2008). Some more visual works and experiments can be found at my blog.

I also draw during my travels, but more about that in the next section.

Writing and Travelling

Drawing from Namibia

Back to Africa (2009-2010), Povratak u Afriku in Serbian, is a multimedial travelblog by Lazar Pašćanović, Marko Đedović Čivitli, and me, about a lowbugdet trip by land through Africa (from Serbia, via Middle East, through Egypt, Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, D.R. Congo, Tanzania, Zambia, to Namibia). Besides text, this blog contains a lot of drawings, photos, videos, and maps.

Off the Beaten Path (2009), Neutabanim stazama in Serbian, is a book of travelogues by 16 other authors and me, published by the Serbia Travel Club. This book is also on GoodReads.

The Two Minutes of Eclipse (2008), Dva Minuta Pomračenja in Serbian, is a travelblog by Nenad Morača, Mario Janković-Romano, and me, about a lowbugdet trip to Siberia and Mongolia, with text, photos, and an interactive map.

I've also written one little essay about the skepticism towards the original Semantic Web idea, but in the context of literature: A Pattern Of Dust: Italo Calvino vs. Semantic Web.

I've been a Storyteller and Game Master (2000-2004), in pen and paper, story and characer driven style. Written and developed many original stories, interactive adventures, characters, maps, and riddles.

Top.
